Trip to l

Had a truly nice time in Fl. I loved seeing my Mom, my sisters and of course Jennifer and sweet Avery. She is one kid that can just bring a smile to your face. Of course I am not objective. Thanks Trish for the wonderful Easter celebration, and yes we did eat all that candy you gave us.
Looking forward to another trip to Fl soon. Here are a few pictures.

Perches

I have posted pictures of Ted before on his perch, I now realize we all probably have perches where we spend time. I captured a few pics of perches where a few in my household are found.
Reilly usually perches under Kevin and for me I am usually perched many different places during the day.
Where is your perch?

Just one more!

Here is another card I did today for what they call a sketch challenge on a card making website I visit everyday. I am sure this one will go to Mom or Gloria or I will make a duplicate and they both get one!

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

It has been a little while since I posted some new cards. I usually check my blogs and take some of the other card makers cards and use what I have and do the same colors, sketches, materials etc...
I think even if you set out to case a card directly it still has some of you in it. So here are some I worked on this week. I know, not much to speak of but I am working on some other things too.

Check this web site out

Here is a web site that I found after a story Tracy Engel told me. She was invited to attend a presentation of a report students at the local community college were presenting on diversity.
She was asked to bring Jessi because one of there reports was on down syndrome people and Jessi is sort of the local celebrity. Well Jessi was working, so Tra went alone instead. She heard the report on mentally handicapped but another presentation she heard was about gays. Her ears perked up because they mentioned Sayville also know as Gayville and quite a bit of the report was about Sayville and fire Island. There was even a mention of Purple power, which according to this came about because yes you guessed it, the Sayville high colors were purple and gold.

I googled about this and came up with this web site, I put it on my facebook the other day but I don't know if anyone looked. The wacky stuff they say about Sayville and corelation to Sabrina the witch, yes Melissa Joan hart did live in Sayville and then harry Potter. Just check it out.

Kath asked about the card. It is actually shimmery paper that I ran through an embossing plate(I will show you the next time you come over). I think the effect is pretty and it kind of does look like lace.

Alex's room

We just received Alex's duvet and shams, I think they are very pretty. I feel like I still have lots of work to do in her room. However, lets just say I have to get by the pile of clothes on the floor. Totally unacceptable! I am posting this pic so you can see. I still need to hang shelves and maybe look for more wall art. I also redid her frame from her party with her friends. I matched as best I could to her room color. Let me know what you think. I am also going to post a picture of a simple wedding card I made yesterday.

Kind of a quiet day today, gloomy weather, kids out of school and really there was not a place I needed to be.

Here it is!

Here is the new ride I had delivered this morning. She/he is sweet! I have spent the entire morning going over the handbook. Jen got the first call from the handsfree, I think it sounded good. I really haven't driven anywhere yet, I still don't like to waste gas!

I will have to pick Ted up in a while and that might be the maiden voyage. Then off to a soccer game tonight. Enjoy the pics.
PS the color is called Black Forest Pearl

No photos to post, I am going to have a busy week. Ted goes in for surgery on Wednesday, he has what they call a button tumor. We don't know if it has cancer cells or not but we are going ahead and removing it. Sometimes these things disappear on their own but Doc thinks we should take it off.

Also, we are getting our new RAV the same day. The dealership in Richmond is delivering it here. Very excited. We don't get new cars often we still have our beloved jeep, now 15 years old. The Montero 8.5 years ,so we drive them.

Alex starts soccer season at school and travel. It was somewhat delayed due to the eight inches of snow we had a week ago. Of course today will be in the 70's, that is just how VA weather is. Nothing says we could not have more cold or even more snow in March.

Anyway just a small post to keep up to date.
Have a great weekend!!

Waiting for the snow!

I have decided after waking at 3am, I am not going to just sit around waiting for the snow to start, I have been wanting to make some cards after all March is a big month for birthday's. Here are a few I made with some new stamps I got recently. Paper crafting and rubber stamping has changed so much since I got involved. By the time I get around to the new thing, another new thing is already being blogged about. Anyway, most of the time I don't and can't pay attention I like cards to be simple and I have to remember if you start to pile on the 3d stuff you are going to pay more postage. So I just keep that in mind when making cards. It is not an inexpensive hobby I don't think any hobby is, but I try to keep in mind that all cards usually end up in the trash. I get pleasure when someone enjoys the fact that I made them.

No photos at the moment. I have made some cards this week just to lazy to take pics and post.
Alex made the JV soccer team! She is very excited and it really is an accomplishment being that she is an eighth grader. So now the work begins, school, practice games and I am sure there will be a ton of them.

We did look and drive some new cars this week, we have narrowed the choice but just can"t make a final decision on the style. We both really like the civic hybrid, I like the appearance better than the Prius. I drove both and they are both great handling cars. It is a little strange to get to a stop light and the engine just cuts off, that is something I guess you get used to. We also like the Toyota Rav4. Neat drive! Kevin leaves first thing tomorrow and Alex has a soccer tournament all afternoon so I am not sure a new car will be purchased this weekend. It might just have to wait until Kev is home the next time. I will keep you all posted.

I am about to go enjoy a morning glory muffin I made yesterday. lots of good things in those.

Well I finished the book "Sarah's Key". What a great book, It was an easy read with a lot of emotion. It was written by Tatiana De Rosnay. She is french born in the suburbs of Paris. The story is about the round up of Jews in Paris summer of 1942. The french Police were ordered to to round up the jews and in Paris it is actually called Vel' d Hiv'. Most young French are not taught about this and most French citizens generally ignore that this indeed did happen. The story is fictional but the events real. I would love to pass this book around but it is not mine to share. See if you can get a copy to read published in the US 2007.

Peeky peeky!!
Here is just the start to getting Alex's room done over. Instead of buying the Pottery barn's $80.00
per panel curtain. I decided that I could use Target panels that came in a pair for $17.99. So with $5.00 of ribbon a little stitch witchery(iron on adhesive) I think they came out OK! I have a long way to go with the details like lamps accessories etc... We both love the color the bedding doesn't even come in until after March 12th, so we have some time to play with. I am so glad the green is gone! Thought I would let you all see what I have been doing since Saturday.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to show the true PB panels

I have finished the weekend tired and wanting to go to bed before 10. I painted Alex's room this weekend, it looks awesome and I have many things to do to finish "the look" we want. I love the color we painted called violet stone from benjamin moore. I thought I needed a primer to hide the neon green the room was. But the very wise guy from the paint store suggested I get a primer tinted with the color I was painting. Brilliant! Only one coat of primer and one coat of paint and it was finished. I did the primer yesterday and the paint this morning. It dried beautifully. So when I finish a few more details I will post some pics. I used to love to paint but now my hands just hurt for days after. Thanks Mom for the "arthuritis"!

Good night to all

Happy Valentines day!

This post is dedicated to my hubby! I made a few cards to give him but since he is not here I will post them.
Kevin is my love and my best friend, I miss him terribly and do not feel the same when he is not home. We were so used to doing everything together, this year has been hard for both of us.
He knows I love him dearly and can't wait until we can live together once again .

Ok, now for the rest of you, have a wonderful Valentines day with all of your loved ones and appreciate all we have not just one day a year but all the time.

Love to all

Here is my bunco group, they are a fun bunch of ladies. Each one is near and dear, I can't believe I will be a part of this group for 5 years this summer! Some have left and we have added new, we always have fun and a lot of laughs.
I look forward to this group of ladies every month. We all talk about getting together more often but somehow life gets in the way.
Back row l to r
Joanna, Karen, Jennifer, Tee, Josie, Laurie
Front
Donna, Kimmie, Debbie and Me!
Laurie hosted last night, and her husband Mark was there to help her(what a guy!) She made an amazing Hungarian goulash so yummy! Then red velvet cake for dessert. These ladies are my escape from my typical life of running all over with Alex and I appreciate all the months I have gotten to enjoy. Thank you for including me right from the start.

A little Valentine Box

Here is a little box I made to put some goodies in to give to Alex on Valentines day. Looks rather plain without the chocolate but that will soon be remedied.
I really had not planned on doing this today, but I'm sure you all understand the attention deficit we have because of technology. One look at a blog and I'm doing what they showed. Forget the kitchen floor that needs to be done or some of the ironing!
That being said, let me get busy.

So Skyped!

I downloaded Skype today per Brad and Mary Catherine's suggestion. Wow! That is all I can say, I was looking at the three of them in Brooklyn as quick as it takes to answer a call. I am hooked.
We are probably going to set up a call on weekends and I will see them in real time. Love it!
Now we have to get Jen, Chris and Avery and wow what about Kevin.
I am in love with technology, long distance Grandparents unite!

Sorry Jen, but here is the snow you missed! Hard to believe we had two days of 60 degrees. It really does look pretty, we are supposed to get more tonight. After looking at MC's pictures I told her it looks like we live in the country, I guess we do!

Monday, February 2, 2009

My photography leaves a lot to be desired. I will leave all the good pictures to the experts(ie Mary Catherine, Trish). It was just so much fun to have my girls visit. I sure wish I lived closer to have more fun. Matilda is wearing the lining of a little basket. She just thought it would be better as a hat. Matilda and Avery sharing some corner time with Ted and GB(Grandpa Bull). It was so funny to hear Avery calling me Grandma Bull, cute but I think I cringed!
Matilda is really starting to form words, she was repeating in her own way everything she heard.

Super bowl 3 D Really!

So did anyone else get these fabulous glasses when you were out and about before the big game?
Well Jeanne got many of these and we sat there waiting for the end of the 2nd quarter to be able to see 3D. We were pretty disappointed in what we did see, I think one image popped off the screen. We could not believe all the money spent on marketing for a mere couple of seconds! But I guess they got us to watch.

Very sad blogging!

I have been a very bad blogger of late. I have in my defense very busy with the having the time of my life getting to spend some quality time with my family. I enjoyed their visits more than I can say. It has been very nice to get to know Chris and Mary Catherine a little better. I hope they all enjoyed their time in the "country".
Avery and Matilda are so sweet and are so much fun , I love the stages they are in. Their smiles can light up a room!
I will post some pics, I feel like I have been going a hundred miles an hour lately and yesterday when I really did not have a minute to spare Ted decided to eat something (we don't know what)and got very sick. We took him to a the vet, he really was fine but whatever he ate made him violently ill! It was kind of scary.
We are having the Mckeague's over for Super bowl today. Football is a sport I really could care less about, but I think it is more for me about getting together with friends and eating!
I really want to start stamping again, since Christmas I have barely touched my ink and stamps.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

If only!

Sometimes I think our furry friends have it all right. Do we ever take time just to look? As I was working around the house I came upon Ted just staring out the window. Nothing really there, just taking time to look. Probably wishing he could be outside sniffing all the great things the neighborhood furries have left behind.
This is what I call down time, maybe next time I will join him!

This is for Kev!

Well not just for Kev, just some pics of Ted and his new haircut. Really have not done much and I guess you could figure that since I am posting pictures of Ted' grooming! I have to say I am enjoying all the family blogs. I love reading and seeing pictures of everyone and all the mishaps(yes Carol that means taking Chandler to school when there really is none)

New Year, Right?

I feel like this past week I have been in a fog, Getting a cold on the 2nd day of the new year and still feeling the effects.
We got Gloria sent home on Sunday, by her own accounts a 7 day visit is all she should do and I am in total agreement. She is very much used to moving about at her pace and her time clock, which is about 7 hours later than the rest of the world!
It really was a nice visit and we had a nice holiday, but I am glad it is over. I am looking forward to time being spent with Jen, Chris and Avery, Brad, Mary Catherine and Matilda.
I also need to think about getting time with my own Mother. I have spent a lot of time with Gloria over the past couple of years and I really want to pay attention to my Mom a bit. I just have to figure out how. I also would love some alone time with my husband and again, HOW??
Oh well I have a good feeling we will change our situation this year. I am sure it will mean a move but we all know in our lovely economy you go where you work. We have been apart for a full year and it is enough! So think positive thoughts.

to all
{hugs}
